What background data is on Android

Background data is permission for an app to use the internet when it is not open. With it off, syncing with the server waits until the next time you launch the app.
For a reminders app this is about exchanging records between devices, not about the reminders themselves: they live in the phone’s system, not on the network.
Why it matters
This one is about sync rather than the reminders themselves: without background data, records from your other devices only arrive when you open the app. Reminders keep working, because they live in the system rather than on the network.
Where it is in settings
- Any phone
- Settings → Apps → your app → Mobile data and Wi-Fi → allow background data and allow usage while data saver is on.
