Recurring reminder for your calendar

Every two weeks, on Tuesdays and Thursdays, once a quarter on the 31st. Pick the repeat, check the next dates and take the file: your phone calendar does the reminding from there.

"Every two weeks" and "on Tuesdays" are counted differently

A repeat by day of the week holds on to the day: Tuesday stays Tuesday however many weeks pass. An "every 14 days" repeat holds on to the start date, and every next time is counted from it.

While the start falls on a Tuesday you cannot tell them apart. The difference shows when the start has to move: the weekday repeat comes back to its Tuesday, the fourteen-day one travels with the new date. That suits watering plants or a haircut and does not suit a class on a timetable.

What happens on the 31st in a short month

The calendar file standard reads "the 31st of every month" literally: a month without a 31st gets no event, so February, April, June, September and November drop out.

This page does it differently. For the 29th, 30th and 31st the file holds separate events for two years ahead instead of a rule, and in a short month the reminder sits on its last day. After two years you will need to take the file again.

Every other Monday

Choose "On days of the week", tick Monday and set "every 2 weeks". Weeks are counted from the one the first reminder falls in, so check the list of next dates: if it landed on the wrong week, move the start date by seven days.

Which repeats KIPRI has

The app has five repeats: every day, on weekdays, weekly, monthly and yearly. It has no "every two weeks" or "every N days" repeat, which is what this page is for. The ordinary monthly repeat in KIPRI does move the 31st to the last day of a short month by itself, and an important reminder nudges you a second time.
