What Do Not Disturb does on Android
Do Not Disturb removes sound and vibration from notifications. The notifications themselves still arrive and stay in the shade.
The mode has exceptions: calls, alarms and chosen apps are allowed separately. If alarms are switched off in the exceptions, the mode will silence the alarm too.
Why it matters
It does not cancel the notification, it mutes it. If a night schedule runs into your morning, the reminder arrives silently, and from the outside that looks exactly like a reminder that never came.
Where it is in settings
- Any phone
- Settings → Notifications → Do Not Disturb → Exceptions. Permission to override the mode is granted to a specific channel, not to the whole app.
