Rent by the 10th, the loan on the 25th, internet on the last day of the month. You never forget these dates until the month when you are on holiday or swamped. One repeating reminder for each of them settles it.
How to set it up
Create a reminder and pick «every month»
The repeat is tied to the day of the month. If the payment is on the 31st, in short months the reminder arrives on the last day: 30 April, 28 or 29 February. No month is skipped.
Add a heads-up
5, 15, 30 or 60 minutes before. On the free plan one option is available, 15 minutes. For bills it is easier to set the reminder itself for the morning of the payment day and keep the heads-up for meetings.
Mark the payment as important
An important reminder arrives even during quiet hours, is not folded into the morning digest and, if you do not tick it off, repeats once after 30 minutes. On the free plan three reminders can be important, enough for the most expensive misses.
Close it from the notification
The notification has buttons: mark it done or snooze it. No need to open the app.
What KIPRI cannot do here
There is no «every two months», «every quarter» or «every N days» repeat. There is: every day, weekdays, weekly, monthly and yearly.
You cannot pay the bill from the app, it is only a reminder.
The free plan has 200 reminders. A repeating one counts as one, however many times it fires.
About the morning digest
The 9:00 digest is on by default and tells you about all of the day’s reminders in one notification. An ordinary reminder at 18:00 then does not ring separately, it was already in the digest. For a bill that can be awkward: you read it in the morning and forget by the evening.
Two ways out. Mark the payment as important, and it will arrive separately at its own time. Or set the reminder before the digest, say at 8:00: a reminder due before the digest is not silenced by it.
What happens to a reminder on the 31st in February?
It arrives on 28 February, or the 29th in a leap year. In March it goes back to the 31st. How different apps handle this is covered in the blog post about the 31st.
Can I set a quarterly reminder?
Not with one repeat. The workaround is four reminders repeating yearly, one for each quarter month.
Will the reminder arrive if the phone is offline?
Yes. Notifications are scheduled on the phone and use Android exact alarms, no network needed.
